Granite FAQs

What are granite worktops?

Granite worktops are natural stone surfaces cut from solid blocks of granite. Each slab is unique, with its own pattern and colour variations, making granite a premium choice for kitchens, bathrooms, and interior projects.

I can't see the granite I want, is it available?

There are hundreds of granites available from around the world, if you have seen or heard of a different granite that you would like a quote in, send us a photo of it and we can see if we can get hold of it or if we have a similar alternative.

Are granite worktops durable?

Yes. Granite is extremely strong and resistant to scratches, heat, and impact, making it one of the most durable worktop materials available.

Do granite worktops need sealing?

Yes. Granite is a natural, porous stone, so sealing is recommended to protect against stains and liquids. Most worktops are sealed during installation, and resealing is usually required every 1–3 years depending on usage.

How do I clean granite worktops?

Clean granite surfaces with warm water, a mild detergent, or a pH-neutral stone cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive pads, which can damage the sealant and dull the finish.

Are granite worktops heat-resistant?

Yes. Granite can withstand hot pans and oven trays. However, using trivets or heat pads is recommended to protect the sealant and prevent potential cracking from extreme thermal shock.

Can granite worktops crack or chip?

Granite is very strong but not indestructible. Heavy impacts on edges or corners can cause minor chips. Professional repair is possible if damage occurs. If you chip your worktop, just give us a call and we will repair is as part of our Free Remedial Service.

Are granite worktops hygienic?

When properly sealed, granite is non-porous enough to be hygienic for kitchen surfaces. Its natural density makes it resistant to bacteria and mould growth.

Do granite worktops stain easily?

Granite is naturally resistant to stains, but acidic liquids like wine, lemon juice, or oil can leave marks if not cleaned promptly. Regular sealing helps maintain stain resistance.

Can granite worktops be used outdoors?

Yes. Granite is naturally weather-resistant and suitable for outdoor kitchens or patios. However, sealing may need to be more frequent to maintain protection from the elements.

What thickness options are available?
